BOYA Chinese – Beginning Course
Key features of this course include:
Pinyin supporting learning – pinyin is written above characters from lessons 1-4 to aid the student with pronunciation, and gradually removed since lesson 5.
Writing characters – by the end of this course, students will be able to write 200-300 characters.
Clear explanations on grammar and word use – grammar points and word usage are embedded in situations and scenes.
Cultural knowledge – ample information is provided on Chinese culture, from music to movies, news to documentaries, to support learning.
A global perspective – students get good exposure to a variety of places where Chinese is spoken, from the North (Beijing) to the South (Guilin).
Movies/music/interviews embedded – these video/audio materials support students to be immersed in the Chinese language and learn authentic Chinese.
Differentiated approach – “recitation” “shadowy reading” “free talk” and “themed dialogue” these innovative learning methods combined with “characters/sentences dictation” and “card recognition”.

Level: Equivalent to HSK 1-2
